Consider an annual pinball machine service to ensure your game stays in top condition, preserving both its playability and value, regular service is highly recommended.
Regular pinball servicing is essential to ensure smooth, glitch-free gameplay, prevent major and expensive component failures, and extend the machine's overall lifespan and value. Maintenance tasks like cleaning the playfield to remove dirt and dust, inspecting for wear on mechanical parts such as flippers and coils, and checking electrical connections for loose wires or burnt-out fuses are vital for keeping the complex mechanical and electronic systems functioning correctly.
Key reasons for regular servicing:
- Enhances Gameplay and Performance
- Smooth Operation: Regular cleaning removes dust and dirt that can cause switches, opto-sensors, and other components to seize up, leading to glitches and errors.
-
- Accuracy: A clean and well-maintained playfield ensures that the ball and mechanisms operate with the precision expected by players.
- Prevents Expensive Repairs
- Early Detection: Regular inspections can identify wear and tear on parts like flipper coils and plungers at an early stage, allowing for timely and inexpensive repairs before major damage occurs.
-
- Protects Investment: Pinball machines are a significant investment; consistent maintenance protects this investment by extending the machine's functional life and preserving its value.
- Improves Safety
- Electrical Checks: Routine checks for loose wires, blown fuses, and other electrical issues prevent potential accidents and ensure a safe playing environment.
- Maintains Value
- Preserves Condition: Proper care keeps the machine in good working order, making it more desirable and valuable to potential buyers if you decide to sell it.
Typical maintenance tasks:
- Playfield Cleaning:
Regularly wiping the playfield removes dirt, oil, and rubber debris that accumulates from the ball's movement.
- Component Inspection:
Checking for loose wires on solenoids, inspecting bulbs, and verifying the operation of switches.
- Rubber Ring Replacement:
Replacing worn-out rubber rings, such as flipper rings, which degrade over time.
- Fuse Checks:
Inspecting and testing fuses to ensure they are functioning correctly and have the proper rating.
- Coil and Plunger Maintenance:
Checking and replacing flipper plunger components to prevent failures
